New Beginnings - Dealing With Changes

Change can be very hard for some, but it is an inevitable fact of life. The problem isn't how can we avoid change, it's how can we live with change and make it work for us? Let me just share this with you,

I personally am someone who doesn't like change. My least favorite part about Christmas is when it's over and we have to take down the Christmas tree and change how our house looks by putting the decorations away. It's sad to see things go away and what was once, now is not. The thing I struggle with most is the memories, but maybe I should be holding onto them instead of focusing on the pain they tend to cause. Memories can be a good thing.

Good memories

Birthdays

special events/ocassions

addresses to locations

friends

these are all memories of things that are important and good to remember, and they can bring us joy.

Bad memories

Deaths

events such as 9/11

bad dreams

traumatic experiences

these are all bad memories that we tend to not want to remember (for good reason) but these memories are just as important as good ones...think about it,

if we didn't have history, no way of looking back on what has happened in the past, how would we ever learn from it? How would we teach what is wrong if we don't even know for ourselves? Although having the memory can cause us pain, sometimes holding onto it can help us. Sure you can't get stuck in the past, but you can't go and forget all about it either. You got to learn to balance it out. How do we do this?:

Step 1

We must determine what kind of memory it is, is it good or bad?

Step 2

Create a plan and make steps to either let it go or hold onto it

Step 3

Finding support...we need to find support in whatever decision we've made. We shouldn't have to go through life alone, and you are NEVER alone!
